Kuldeep Yadav remembers angry MS Dhoni’s reaction during T20I vs Sri Lanka in Indore
Kuldeep Yadav remembers angry MS Dhoni’s reaction: The Indian spinner recalled an interesting anecdote from Sri Lanka’s tour of India in 2017.
During the second T20I of Sri Lanka’s tour of India in Indore, Sri Lanka batsman Kusal Perera had scored his seventh T20I half-century in a losing cause.
Chasing a mammoth 261-run chase, Perera shared a 109-run partnership for the second wicket alongside opening batsman Upul Tharanga (47).
Perera, whose 37-ball 77 was included of four fours and seven sixes gave the visitors a slight chance at getting close to the monumental Indian target, was seen particularly targeting India spinner Kuldeep Yadav.
Been introduced into the attack by captain Rohit Sharma to bowl the last over of the powerplay, Yadav leaked 18 runs in his first over which included two sixes hit by the left-hand Perera.

In his next over, Yadav once again failed to control Perera as he hit him for a soaring six over mid-wicket. Yadav, who was brought back into the in the 13th over, conceded two fours and a six against Perera as his three overs cost India 45 runs.

During a recent interaction on social media platform Instagram with renowned sports anchor Jatin Sapru, Yadav shared an interesting anecdote regarding Dhoni when the veteran player got angry with him.
“Kusal [Perera] smashed a boundary over the covers. [MS] Dhoni Bhai shouted from behind the wickets and asked me to change the fielding. I did not listen to his suggestion and in the next ball, Kusal hit another boundary through the reverse sweep now.
“Now agitated Dhoni came to me and said, ‘Main pagal hu? 300 one-day khela hu, aur samjha raha hu yahan pe’ [Am I mad? I have played 300 ODIs and you are not listening to me],” Yadav was quoted as saying on Sapru’s series called ASAP With JSAP.
Yadav last played for India during the ODI series in New Zealand. India’s ploy of strengthening their batting by playing all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja as the second spinner has mostly seen Yadav warming the bench in the recent times.
