Max Verstappen refuses he received an offer from Ferrari
Max Verstappen refuses that he received an offer from Ferrari for 2021 to replace the outgoing driver Sebastian Vettel next season.
Sebastian Vettel and Ferrari were rumoured to part ways by the end of this season, and as expected it did happen, but before Vettel announced his departure, there were long speculations on his replacements at the Italian outfit.
Recently Max Verstappen who was one of the drivers linked to the outfit has denied that he was ever close to signing for Ferarri. “That’s wrong,” he replies to ‘Radio 538‘ when asked whether Ferrari had made him an offer for 2021.
Verstappen recently signed an extension with Red Bul which makes him committed to the Austrian team till 2023. “And I’m very happy with the team,” emphasizes the Dutchman. “So there is no reason for me to leave.”
So does that mean that Verstappen will eventually end his Formula 1 career at Red Bull? “I’m not sure how to answer this question,” he muses.
In theory, you should never say never, but he currently has no ambitions to leave Red Bull. “So ‘right’ would be the correct answer. I will never go. At least it is not my intention.”
But at some point, he will definitely leave Red Bull. “Namely when I quit,” Verstappen further talked about the longevity of career and what are his ambitions.
“But if you stay in Formula 1 every year without a break and try everything to stay fit, you can physically drive to 40,” said the Dutchman. In his case, that would be until 2037.”
As of now, Carlos Sainz has been announced as the new Ferrari driver and will be teaming up with Charles Leclerc from next season onwards. Meanwhile, Sainz spot at McLaren has been taken by Daniel Ricciardo.
