Oshane Thomas castles Shayne Moseley: The West Indian spearhead drew first blood on the first ball of the match.
During the second day of West Indies’ second intra-squad practice match at Old Trafford, Brathwaite XI’s Oshane Thomas dismissed Holder XI’s opening batsman Shayne Moseley on the first ball itself to make early inroads into the opposition’s lineup.
Slated to begin yesterday, the four-day match saw its first day getting abandoned due to incessant rain in Manchester. While the second day was expected to receive a similar fortune, drastic change in the climate witnessed the otherwise.
Bowling from over the wicket to the left-hand batsman with three slips and a gully in place, Thomas brought the ball into the batsman to deceive him without giving him an iota of chance of getting his eye in.
Not part of the initial 14-member squad for this tour, Thomas had picked a wicket in each of the two innings in the first practice match. Having said that, the reserve bowler has sure made a name especially on the back of his raw pace.
It was due to the same reason that legendary West Indies fast bowler Andy Roberts claimed Thomas as a sure-starter for the first Test primarily because of his ability of to “create uneasiness among batsmen”.
“Oshane Thomas would probably be the first name I would pencil on this tour because he has what others want: he has pace.
“And you should always have somebody like that on your team so that he can create uneasiness amongst batsmen,” Roberts had said while speaking to another legend in Michael Holding on the latter’s YouTube channel earlier this month.

Bit of a frenetic start but Joshua Da Silva and Sunil Ambris have settled pretty easily. Jason Holder’s XI 60 for one off 11 overs, profiting from some wayward bowling
