F1 Styrian GP Qualifying Results and Standings: Lewis Hamilton dramatically takes the pole position
F1 Styrian GP Qualifying Results and Standings: Lewis Hamilton dramatically takes the pole position after an intense battle with Max Verstappen.
The qualifying on wet track brought in even more surprises to the Styrian GP. From on the verge of being cancelled to witnessing racers splashing water in Spielberg, the Styrian GP has been brilliant so far.
The biggest upset in the track was the exit of Leclerc in the Q2, to narrow it down, the Monégasque had little to change his fate, as more of accountability is on his team.
Due to the rain getting heavier soon after Leclerc pitted, in his capacity he had little potential to push till maximum, which slowed him down and made him take an early exit from the qualification.
On the other hand, his teammate Sebastian Vettel was also not having a good time on the track, as most of the time he stayed on the danger of being eliminated.
In the Q3, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Alex Albon had a promising start and were riding with full pace, but they had to bow down in front of Mercedes’ might with Lewis Hamilton taking the pole.
Although Verstappen got a bit unlucky as in the final moments, he was cruising and could have got the pole position but his care faced a hazard and he went out of the track, making him compromise with the second position on the grid.
