F1 FP3 Results: Mercedes dominate as Valtteri Bottas fastest in Free Practice 3 | Formula 1 2020 Hungarian GP
F1 FP3 Results have restored normalcy, with Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton the two fastest drivers in the final practice session.
The Formula One 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix’s practice sessions are all done with the free practice 3 session at the Hungaroring. All the drivers put in lap times this session, with a very exciting qualifying session up ahead.
Mercedes’s Valtteri Bottas was the fastest in the practice session 3, continuing his consistent form this season. His teammate and reigning champion Lewis Hamilton did well to finish just behind him in P2.
Racing Point did well too, with Sergio Perez third fastest, with teammate Lance Stroll in fifth. This is one intra-team battle to watch out for this weekend, as both drivers push to prove their worth to the team.
The tifosi would be relieved to see Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel both make it to the Top 10. Leclerc was P4, and Vettel P8, as both look to turn a leaf this season, starting this weekend.
Ferrari’s upgrades have worked decently well on this circuit, but because the Hungaroing is not power-sensitive, the exact extent of the how the upgrades are working wouldn’t be known up until Silverstone.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen was 6th fastest on the track, with his teammate Alex Albon not making it to the Top 10. Another team evidently struggling is McLaren, with Lando Norris finishing 7th fastest, and teammate Carlos Sainz missing out on the Top 10.
What this season has also done is spice up the midfield battle, with Ferrari entering it. Now, the fight to get into Q3 is getting trickier and that’s what all F1 fans want to see.

What to expect from the qualifying and final race at the Hungaroring?
Ferrari look much better than the last two weekends, with the upgrades seemingly helping Vettel and Leclerc with their performance. They would still face competition from the midfield pack of Racing Point, McLaren and Renault.
Red Bull and McLaren have struggled for pace in the practice session, and would hope to improve it considerably in the qualifying session later today, and the final race tomorrow.
Mercedes and Racing Point look in fine nick, and look like the teams to beat this weekend. Bottas and Hamilton, if they make it to the podium, could expect one of Perez and Stroll to join them this Sunday, if all goes well.
