Jeff Hardy Defeats AJ Styles To Become The New Intercontinental Champion At The Inaugural ThunderDome Setting
Jeff Hardy defeats AJ Styles at the inaugural SmackDown ThunderDome episode, to become the 5-time Intercontinental champion.
It was last week when the announcement was made that AJ Styles will defend his Intercontinental championship at the last SmackDown before the Summerslam PPV. And on the night when WWE welcomed a new spectrum in the form of ThunderDome, a title change has lit up this week’s Friday night SmackDown even more.

AJ Styles Vs. Jeff Hardy: What Happened in the Match?
WWE SmackDown kicked off with a full commotion, featuring Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman, and The Retribution. The masked men had surrounded the ring, where Wyatt and Strowman were already present confronting each other. And just before they could enter, Wyatt used his usual trick to disappear from the ring leaving Strowman alone. It was at this point when the SmackDown male roster came to the aid of monster among men and saved him from the ultimate beat down. AJ Styles and Jeff Hardy also came along the roster. Taking advantage of the situation Styles with a cheap shot injured the right knee of Hardy. After this segment, Hardy was later seen with a medic, who was dressing up his injured part.
The match was the final match of tonight’s SmackDown, thus Hardy got the required time to eventually limp his way to the ring. The bell rung, and AJ Styles wasted no time in attacking the injured knee. The Phenomenal one understandably dominated the match. However, in the end Hardy turned his weakness into strength and used his knee covering to hit AJ in the face. The blow took styles by surprise, following which a Twist of Fate and a Swanton Bomb gave the Charismatic Enigma a pinfall victory.
In the aftermath, AJ Styles was captured all enraged about the result.
