CPL 2020: Najibullah Zadran grabs terrific one-handed stunner off Mohammad Nabi to dismiss Chris Lynn

Najibullah Zadran: The Afghani fielder put on display an extra-ordinary fielding display to dismiss the Australian batsman.

During the seventh match of the ongoing eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and St Lucia Zouks in Tarouba, St Lucia Zouks batsman Najibullah Zadran grabbed a terrific one-handed catch to dismiss St Kitts and Nevis Patriots opening batsman Chris Lynn.

Considering the quality of the catch, it isn’t hard to imagine that Lynn was left awestruck just before taking the long walk back to the pavilion.

It all happened on the last delivery of the third over when Lynn pulling a short delivery from Zouks all-rounder Mohammad Nabi saw him hitting the ball a bit wide off Zadran.

Zadran, who was fielding at square leg, was swift enough to not just dive in the air but also collect the ball to impress one and all. The 27-year old player’s effort is by far the best fielding display in this Caribbean Premier League.

Opening the batting with Evin Lewis (29), Lynn departed after scoring 14 (11) with the help of two fours. Chasing a 173-run target, Patriots doesn’t look in the best of positions to score more than 50 runs in the last four overs.

After Patriots captain Ryad Emrit won the toss and chose to field, St Lucia Zouks scored the highest score of CPL 2020 in 172/6 in 20 overs.

Having scored 46 (33) with the help of six fours and a six, wicket-keeper batsman Andre Fletcher was the pick of the batsmen for Zouks. As far as the bowlers from Patriots are concerned, spinner Jos-Russ Jaggesar registered praiseworthy bowling figures of 4-0-29-2.
