‘NBA players are rich enough to be able to take a night off’- Jared Kushner slams NBA Boycott

US President Trump’s advisor, Jared Kushner has some interesting remarks regarding the NBA players’ stance on the continuation of the 2020 Playoffs.

A league wide boycott of ‘NBA Playoffs’ ignited by the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday night has been the simmering story in the sports world for the past 24 hours. The boycott ensued following the shooting of innocent black man Jacob Blake in Wisconsin.

Other sports leagues followed suit and boycotting of American sports games spread like wildfire as a sign of protest against the racially charged shooting.

Jared Kushner slams NBA Boycott

US President Donald Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner was asked to comment on this boycott and he had some rather choice words, to say the least.

Kusher is quoted saying ,”I think the NBA players are very fortunate that they have the financial position where they’re able to take a night off from work without having the consequences for themselves financially.”

Kusher also threw shade at the NBA for plastering slogans everywhere but not taking any actual actions.

Does Jared Kushner have a point?

In some aspects, you can argue that there is some validity to his claims. The main reason for why the NBA restart was successful to begin with, was because players agreed this would be the perfect platform to voice their views on racial injustice and police brutality.

However, even though the NBA resumed over a month ago, there have been no new laws that prevent further racially charged incidents to take place.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that the NBA has done a marvellous job at putting the #blacklivesmatter movement, centre stage for every single viewer to notice.

Whether it was through important statements on the players’ jerseys, Black Lives Matter on the hardwood, or emotionally driven, yet powerful post game interviews, the NBA has endorsed it all.

The Milwaukee Bucks wouldn’t have been able to get a hold of the Attorney General of Wisconsin and the Lieutenant Governor as quickly as they did if the boycott didn’t happen.
