“He’ll win Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving an NBA Championship’: Steve Nash is the new Brooklyn Nets Head Coach

Steve Nash signs a 4 year contract to be the new Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

In one of the most random signings of the season, Hall of Fame point guard, Steve Nash agrees to be the Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets for the next 4 years.

This news comes just a week after the depleted Brooklyn Nets roster got swept by the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the 2020 Playoffs.

How did Steve Nash end up as the Head Coach of the Brooklyn Nets?

News did break out earlier today that the Nets front office, particularly owner Joe Tsai and general manager Sean Marks were “aggressively” pursuing Steve Nash to sign on as the next Head Coach.

It is also safe to assume that the 2x Finals MVP, Kevin Durant had a part to play in this hiring, as Durant and Nash built up a strong connection in Golden State, when Nash served as a consultant there.

The legendary point guard also released an official statement regarding his hiring, where he said, “Coaching is something I knew I wanted to pursue when the time was right.”

It is also important to note that the Nets will be keeping Jacque Vaughn on board as the lead assistant coach, as Vaughn did do a decent job coaching the Nets, upon the dismissal of previous Head Coach, Kenny Atkinson.

How will Steve Nash fit in with the Brooklyn Nets organization?

Though this will be Nash’s first outing as a coach in the NBA, there is no denying that Nash is a basketball savant. With basketball IQ that’s through the roof, no wonder he is regarded as one of the greatest point guards of the 2000s, if not all time.

Kyrie Irving will be under the tutelage of Steve Nash, from who Irving can learn a lot as Irving is still young, having not even turned 30 yet.
