Indian Team Manager: There was no rift between Kumble and Kohli

The Kohli-Kumble spat has caught the imagination of the nation, with media, cricketers and fans getting consumed in the never ending speculation regarding Kumble’s resignation.

Kumble’s media statement after his resignation indicated that Kohli wasn’t happy with his methods and that the relationship had reached a point of no return.

Reports also claimed that there were close to 10 players who were not satisfied with Kumble’s headmasterly approach and wanted him out.

The BCCI had ordered the team manager to come up with a report regarding the Champions Trophy, something that is done after every major tournament.

Kapil Malhotra’s report hasn’t revealed any instance of a tussle between Kumble and Kohli.

“Kapil Malhotra has submitted his report. At least there is nothing in the report which suggests that skipper Virat Kohli was ever rude to the coach or mention of any incident which could be termed as a breach of discipline,” a BCCI source told PTI.

It was reported that Kumble and Kohli hadn’t spoken to each other for months, and there was apparently a huge falling out between the duo during a training session, but nothing of that sort has been reported in Malhotra’s report.

“He was specifically asked to mention any incident worth reporting which may have affected the dressing room environment or morale of the team. Nothing of that sort is there in the report.” the official added.

The BCCI has also demanded reports from  Anil Patel, the manager of the team during the home test series season.

India would be appointing its new coach on July 10 as confirmed by Sourav Ganguly. Ravi Shastri seems to be the favorite, because of his good relations with Kohli, but the BCCI apparently was Sehwag to take the job.
