Rishabh Pant injury: Has Ajinkya Rahane replaced Pant in Delhi Capitals Playing XI vs Mumbai Indians?
Rishabh Pant injury: The wicket-keeper batsman from Delhi Capitals has been ruled out of a vital clash against Mumbai Indians.
During the 27th match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians in Abu Dhabi, Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer has won the toss and chose to bat first.
“We are looking to bat first. I think we are doing pretty well while defending. The ground factor also plays an important role. The wicket looks amazing, we hope it gets slower in the second innings,” Iyer said during the toss.
Playing his 150th IPL match for Mumbai Indians, captain Rohit Sharma opened up on restricting the opposition to a “decent total” at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
“At the end of the day you have to play good cricket, toss shouldn’t be a factor. It’s a good challenge for us, we know the conditions here. We need to restrict them to a decent total.
“We are playing with the same team. I don’t see a reason to change. It’s been a great journey [150th match for MI], it’s a good landmark to have,” Sharma said during the toss.
Rishabh Pant injury
While Mumbai will take the field without any change to their Playing XI, Delhi have had to make two changes due to wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant’s injury. It is worth mentioning that Pant had suffered a hamstring injury in the last match against Rajasthan Royals.
#DelhiCapitals hamstrung by forced selections thanks to injury. But this should spur them on… If they really are title contenders for #IPL2020, playing their second-choice XI shouldn’t matter.

While Australian wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey has replaced Pant as the man behind the wickets, DC had to make another change to ensure four overseas players. Therefore, Ajinkya Rahane has also been included for West Indies’ Shimron Hetmyer.
In Carey and Rahane, Delhi have included a couple of debutants for them in a vital clash against Mumbai tonight. While Carey is also making his IPL debut, Rahane has come on the back of a 142-match experience in the biggest T20 league.
