WATCH: Roger Federer plays one of the passing shots of the tournament against Raonic
Roger Federer’s tryst with destiny continues, as he marches into the semi finals of Wimbledon, brushing aside Raonic’s challenge in three straight sets.
The match-up was a repeat of last year’s semi-final, after which Federer decided to take a sabbatical from the sport and get fully fit for the next season; a move which has proven to be Federer’s best decision post turning 30.
Ever since his return to tour, Federer has looked like he never left. He has turned back the clock, playing some immaculate Tennis and dishing out those unreal Federer-esque shots to leave dumbfound the opponents and crowd alike.
While the entire match was dominated by short points, as both players tried to use their serve to good effect, Raonic started to get his teeth into Federer’s service games in the third set.
Raonic has multiple break points, but Federer used his first serve to great effect to get out of a corner. A tie-breaker was forced and Raonic got the mini break early on, but Federer rallied to take the min break back and then romp to a win.
In the point of the match, Federer was pegged back by Raonic, who was towering at the net, but was then beaten by an inch perfect pass by Roger Federer, which landed bang on the line. That pass helped Federer get the mini break, as Raonic couldn’t get anywhere near it.

Roger Federer will now face Tomas Berdych in the semi-final who overcame an injured Djokovic in the quarter finals. Djokovic was forced to retire, after aggravating his shoulder injury that he had triggered during the latter stages of his 4th round match against Mannarino
