Evil Geniuses made it to Valorant Champions 2023 Grand Finals and etched their name as one of the greatest in the world. However, their story hasn’t been the easiest, and they etched a new legacy in 2023.

Evil Geniuses have been known for their CSGO roster over the years. Their Valorant team is fairly new and entered the game in 2021. However, the beginning wasn’t in their favor, as many teams were already well-established in the scene.

Despite going up against the odds, 2023 has earned the team a new face, and they have become a quick favorite among fans of Riot’s shooter title. With all that said, here’s the complete story behind the success of this new NA giant.

The starting phase of Evil Geniuses in Valorant Esports

Evil Geniuses started off its journey in the Valorant competitive scene in late 2021 while competing in B and C-tier tournaments. The roster consisted of Nolan “Temperature” Pepper, Christine “potter” Chi, Aleksandar “aleksandar” Jinojosa, Claudia “Clawdia” Che, and Ronan “Osias” Javelona. While successes have followed the team, they certainly weren’t enough for higher-tier tournaments.

Thus, the organization opted for a complete roster change in early 2022 to compete in VCT NA Challengers. In their first attempt, they didn’t quite do so well. However, the team performed slightly better in the second. That opened the door to the VCT 2023 LOCK//IN tournament, where they showed a bit of improvement.

The comeback of EG before Valorant Champions 2023

The main challenge appeared for Evil Geniuses during the VCT Americas League. While they had a strong start during the Upperbrackets, they were soon taken down by LOUD before reaching the Grand Finals.

They did try to come back from the Lower Bracket Finals but were shot down by NRG. Thus, earning the third position in regional qualifiers and securing a spot in Valorant Champions and Masters.

However, they weren’t done yet and returned with more power during VCT Masters 2023. Like before, Evil Geniuses had a strong start in this tournament as well. From a flawless group stage to a strong start in the Upper Bracket matches, EG had it all. However, they faced a considerable challenge before the Grand Finale yet again and lost to Fnatic.

Just like in the Americas League, EG found themselves in the pits of Lower-bracket elimination again. However, the only change was they came in victorious and reached the Grand Finals. Alas, they were taken down by Fnatic yet again, securing a second position and the hearts of many.

Evil Geniuses solidifies their stay in Valorant Champions 2023

Evil Genius showed great performance over a long period. The same was showcased in Valorant Champions 2023, the major tournament from Riot Games. With the title of World Champions on the line, the North American roster had to give their best.

Like in the past in both Masters and Regionals, EG showed a great start in the group stage and had a smooth run in Upper Brackets. However, like their pattern, they lost just before reaching the Grand Finals yet again.

In the Lower Bracket Finals, EG had to face the previous Valorant Champions team LOUD. While they lost to the team before, they rewrote their destiny and made their way to the Grand Finals.

With all that, Evil Geniuses planted themselves in the Valorant Champions 2023 finals and turned the tide. On the other end, Paper Rex is waiting to write their legacy as well. However, the improvements of EG have proven them moving on a step up. With that pattern being polished, Evil Geniuses took the throne and earned their place in the world.
