Roger Federer vows to return to Wimbledon
Nothing trounces a win, especially when it is Tennis’ poster boy coming back from a 10-week layoff and winning the tournament that is most dear to him. But sometimes there are things that seem a little more important than ‘mere glory’.
For a Federer fan the titles matter, of course, but the real joy doesn’t lie there, it lies in watching him gracefully glide through the court, creating moments of magic, moments that make you fall in love with the sport all over again.

So, when Federer was approached by reporters after the game, Federer fans were not interested in his thoughts about the final, instead they wanted to hear those golden words ‘See you guys next year’.
Ever since the Wimbledon title in 2012, Federer has been on the decline(from his usual standards). Watching him play has come with anxiety ever since, not because of his style of play, but because you could never tell which could be his last match, ever!
There was anxiety last night too, more so after the game, as Federer sort of hinted in his on-court interview that he might have played his last match on Centre Court. But all the anxiousness was put to bed in the post match interview where Federer confirmed that he would try his best to defend the title next year.
“Honestly, ever since I had the year I had last year, I think like a year ahead of time, you know, with my schedule, fitness schedule, tournaments I would like to play,” he told reporters.
“So I totally see myself playing here this time next year” he said.
“But because it’s far away, because of what happened last year, I just like to take the opportunity to thank the people in the very moment, and make them understand, yes, I hope that I’m back”
“There’s never a guarantee, especially not at 35, 36. But the goal is definitely to be here again next year to try and defend.” Federer concluded.
