‘2 ounces of Michael Jordan into LaMelo Ball, and he would be an MVP’: Skip Bayless comments on no. 3 pick’s attitude
Skip Bayless wants to see more of Michael Jordan’s playing style and aggression incorporated in his game by LaMelo Ball.
After a torrid regular season, the Charlotte Hornets were bestowed the 3rd overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. With this pick, they selected LaMelo Ball.
LaMelo has been in the limelight ever since he was a freshman at Chino Hill academy. Onyeka Okongwu, the 6th pick in this year’s draft, was also a teammate of his back in the Chino Hills days.

Now, LaMelo takes a backseat from all the limelight and moves to the small market city of Charlotte. A deciding factor in Ball’s arrival in Charlotte was Michael Jordan himself giving the decision ‘his blessing’.
Skip Bayless says he would like to see LaMelo Ball emulate the Hornets owner a bit more.
Skip Bayless is perhaps one of the biggest Michael Jordan fans out there. So of course when a top talent like Ball gets drafted to Jordan’s team, Skip would want to see flashes of MJ in him.
“I love this fit. LaMelo+MJ was a match made in hoop heaven. If I could pour 2 ounces of whatever is inside MJ, in this kid, I might have MVP calibre.”

In all fairness, pouring 2 ounces of whatever is inside ‘the GOAT’, in any player, would that player vastly superior. It should be interesting to see what LaVar Ball thinks of this comp.
Can LaMelo Ball eventually become an MVP calibre player?
LaMelo Ball is the type of player who orchestrates whole offenses around him. His playmaking and vision make him an NBA ready player.
LaMelo is only 19 years old and has ample time to fix his jumpshot. He also has poor shot selection and an unwillingness to put his head down and drive to the rim. 2 ounces of Jordan into him, and he’d be a lot more aggressive on his drives.
These are all traits that can be picked up only with experience. The last pure point guard to win MVP was Steve Nash. Perhaps Ball is next?
