‘LaMelo Ball has a tough night ahead of him’: Lonzo Ball on his brother in first Pelicans/Hornets game
LaMelo Ball was drafted by the Hornets as their no.3 pick in this year’s draft. His brother Lonzo has thrown down the gauntlet to him.
2 players who are very similar in terms of their offensive abilities, Lonzo and LaMelo are brothers separated by an age gap of 4 years. Drafted by the Lakers 3 seasons ago, Lonzo had 2 injury-ridden seasons in his hometown before being traded for Anthony Davis to the Pelicans.

Many have tipped LaMelo to be the most talented of the 3 Ball brothers. The 19-year-old had an impactful season with the Illawara Hawks in Australia’s National Basketball League as an 18-year-old. He has demonstrable ability as a floor general, although his 6’7″ size could also be put to use as a wing.
Lonzo warns LaMelo about tough times to come in their first faceoff
The Ball brothers are the first siblings to both feature in the draft as top-5 picks. Naturally, their meetings are going to attract a lot more eyeballs than usual in a clash between two of the smallest markets in the NBA.
Featuring on teammate JJ Redick’s ‘The Old Man and the Three’ podcast, Lonzo warned LaMelo about a tough first meeting. The 22-year-old says he knows his brother’s game inside out, and is going to use that against him.
“We’ll see if my name is matched up against his. I know his game pretty well so it might be a tough night for him.”

Lonzo has developed a reputation as one of the best, most switchable defensive guards in the NBA. His long, active hands make it tough for opponent guards to keep their dribble alive, and he plays passing lanes expertly to come up with the ball at crucial junctures.
The older Ball’s basketball IQ is also something on full display on the defensive side. He’s one of the best help defenders in the league. LaMelo will definitely have to go through a trial by fire in his first game against his brother in the NBA.
