Team Preview – Dallas Mavericks

Dallas Mavericks had a regular season record of 40-27 before the league came to a halt. The team has been ably led by Luka Doncic who is one of the candidates to win the MVP award and is also one of the frontrunners to win the NBA Most Improved Player of the Year award.

The Mavericks have the best offense this year in terms of efficiency at 115.8 points per 100 possessions. Luka Doncic has had staggering numbers this season and he leads the team in points scored and assists delivered. The all-star averages 28.7 points, 8.7 points and 9.3 rebounds this season. He has been ably supported by Kristaps Porzingis who has averaged 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 0.7 steals per game.

Dallas however aren’t as sound when it comes to defence and the Rockets are pretty good against teams that don’t quite know how to setup against their small ball play. Harden uses the isolation play to perfection and Westbrook knows how to spread the floor and go in for those drives. It will be a challenging night for the Mavs defence.

Expected starting line-up:  Luka Doncic, Seth Curry, Tim Hardaway Jr., Maxi Kleber, Kristaps Porzingis

Team preview – Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets will look to stay clear of the Mavericks and overtake the Thunder when they take the court tomorrow. The James Harden led-side have a current record of 40-24 this season.

The Rockets’ offense has predictably been one of the best in the league. Harden has been the leading scorer this season and the former MVP showed just how good he is with the ball in hand during the Grizzlies scrimmage.

Rockets have wonderfully adjusted to getting Westbrook on board, with both Harden and Westbrook bringing forth contrasting offensive techniques to the fore. The duo are exciting as ever and should put on a show tonight.

Meanwhile, the Rockets lost Eric Gordon to a knee injury for a minimum of 2 weeks. However, head coach Mike D’Antoni identifying Ben McLemore, Jeff Green and Austin Rivers as leading candidates to fill the void.

Expected starting line-up: Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Ben McLemore, Robert Covington, P.J. Tucker

Expect a close game between the sides. But with the Mavericks looking great during the scrimmage and having their full roster at play, they seem to have a better shot tonight.
