“The worst start of everyone’s career”- Lando Norris after Turkish Grand Prix
“The worst start of everyone’s career”- Lando Norris talks about the chaotic start to the Turkish Grand Prix amidst harsh weather.
The Turkish Grand Prix gave a thrilling show, with multiple contenders at different times seemed to win the race. But surely the start of the race was not as peaceful as it is in usual conditions.
The biggest factor was the slippery track, which was caused by the heavy rain and newly laid asphalt on the track. Speaking on this McLaren star has boldly claimed that it was the worst start in everyone’s career.
“There was a complete contrast, I think. Possibly the worst start of my career ever, probably the worst start of everyone’s career ever,” the young Brit told Autosport.com.
“Every time we got into clear air and had some nice gaps in the car ahead, the car came alive, and we had really good pace,” said Norris, who finished eighth at the end of the race.
A decent day for McLaren on the field
Despite the complaints made by Norris, there’s no doubt that McLaren had a decent day out which safeguards their interests in the midtable battle ahead of the last three races in the calendar.
Whilst, Norris finished 8th, his teammate Carlos Sainz secured an impressive 5th position, amassing a total tally of 15 points from the race. Only if Sergio Perez hadn’t finished on the podium, McLaren might have overtaken Racing Point in the standings.
With the last three races remaining, the duo of Sainz and Norris can’t afford to make further mistakes. Apart from that, these are going to be last three races for Sainz in the McLaren car, as he is bound to join Ferrari in 2021.
With the British team set to bid adieu to their Spanish prince, it remains to be seen how the remaining contest fairs out for McLaren.
