‘Dwight Howard did not want to play with LeBron’: Skip Bayless reacts to big man signing with 76ers

Never one to miss taking shots at LeBron James, Skip Bayless makes it look like Dwight Howard and The King don’t get along.

The 34-year-old big man, now entering his 17th season in the NBA, was once seen as a threat to LeBron James as the best player in the NBA. Howard won 3 straight Defensive Player of the Year trophies and finished second in MVP voting twice. Without his back injuries, Howard had every chance of giving James stiff competition.

All of that changed, however, when he demanded and got a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2012. A series of injuries and a poor run of form put paid to his hopes of being a dominant big.

Given how Howard took only a veteran’s minimum contract to play with the 76ers despite stating that he wants a good contract, there is some truth to that he didn’t like being on the Lakers.

Whether that has to do with LeBron or not is something an outsider could never hope to know. But his move to Philly gives Bayless all the reason in the world to make it seem like it does.

I guess I shouldn’t be surprised. LeBron’s agency steers Montrezl Harrell to the Lakers, says his agent Rich Paul, who runs Klutch for LeBron. Trez is signing for only about $9 mil, a stunning steal for the Lakers. I guess the NBA is now a LeBronopoly.

Skip also accused Rich Paul and LeBron of making the NBA an uneven playing field by luring his favored players to his teams. This might have a bit more truth to it, but it’s still a huge reach all the same.
