“Michael Jordan would beat my dad in a 1v1”- LaMelo Ball eludes to ‘the GOAT’ taking the victory over Lavar Ball
LaMelo Ball insinuates that he believes Michael Jordan would beat his dad, Lavar Ball, in a 1v1 matchup.
LaMelo Ball is perhaps the prospect with the most upside in this year’s 2020 NBA Draft. He has shown flashes of superstardom everywhere he’s played.
He really seemed to grow into the master offensive orchestrator during his short stint with the Illawarra Hawks in Australia’s NBL. Fastforward a year later, Ball was taken 3rd overall in this year’s draft.
Michael Jordan gave the Charlotte Hornets “his blessing” to draft LaMelo with the 3rd pick. With Lavar being as involved in his son’s NBA career as he is, he is bound to be in the same room as Jordan on multiple occasions.
This brought up the age old debate from 3 years ago: would Lavar Ball beat Jordan in a 1v1?
LaMelo Ball picks sides between Michael Jordan and his dad.
LaMelo Ball spoke at his first ever Hornets press conference less than a day ago. During this presser, it was revealed LaMelo will most probably be wearing number 2 on his jersey for his rookie year.
This number was worn by Hornets legend Larry Johnson. Along with this reveal, one reporter decided to address the elephant in the room; and ask Ball about the 1v1.
“I don’t think it’s gonna happen. And I think we know how it would turn out, to be honest…but I mean that is my pops and my boss, so I’m on both sides now.”

Ball took this question quite light-heartedly and said, “I think we know how it would turn out.” This response of course eluded to Ball believing Jordan would be the obvious choice here.
He immediately switched his stance and continued on by saying, “I mean, that is my pops and my boss, so I’m on both sides now.”
Will LaMelo Ball be given the reins to the Hornets offense?
The Puma athlete’s arrival has already resonated well with the people of Charlotte. Tickets sales for Hornets games has risen by quite a high margin ever since Ball was drafted by the franchise.
With the Hornets in rebuild mode, it would be expected of them to let LaMelo orchestrate his own offense with the team. This will inevitably help the youngest Ball brother unlock the star potential he already possess.
