“New Orleans will always hold a special place in my heart”- Jrue Holiday’s message to Pelicans fans upon signing with Giannis and the Bucks
Jrue Holiday bade farewell the New Orleans Pelicans in a heartfelt message on Twitter, ahead of joining the Milwaukee Bucks.
One of the most important trades made in the Eastern Conference this offseason was the Jrue Holiday acquisition by the Milwaukee Bucks. In doing so, the Bucks sent a hefty package including Eric Bledsoe and boatload of first rounders to the Pelicans.
For the New Orleans Pelicans, it made sense to move away from Jrue Holiday. He did not fit the timeline for the Pelicans’ young roster and would take away valuable minutes from the younger guards, hampering their development.
This move will do Jrue justice as he will finally be able to lend his skillset to a championship contending team. Though this calls for celebration in the Holiday household, it also means he has to part ways with a franchise he has been with for 7 years.
Jrue Holiday remains grateful for his time with the New Orleans Pelicans.
In an official statement made by Jrue Holiday, the 1x All-Star showed an immense amount of gratitude towards the Pelicans.
He spoke on behalf of himself and his family and said, “New Orleans will always hold a special place in our hearts. I am forever grateful for every minute my family and I spent with you.”

He also thanked the New Orleans fans and the Pelicans organization.
How did Jrue Holiday perform in his 6 years with the Pelicans?
Right after Holiday had his All-Star season in the 2012-13 season, he was traded away from the Sixers to the Pelicans. He would continue to play at an All-Star calibre level throughout his tenure with the Pels; but never make an All-Star appearance with them.
His best season with the Pelicans came in the 2018-19 season where he averaged 21.2 points, while shooting 47% from the field.
