Babar Azam: Woman accuses Pakistan cricket team captain of sexual and physical assault

Babar Azam: The captain of the Pakistani cricket team has been accused of sexual and physical assault by a woman during a presser.

A Lahore-based woman has accused Pakistan captain Babar Azam of sexual and physical assault which has invited a huge controversy around one of the top all-format batsman around the globe.

The woman took part in a press conference to share details of how she and Azam used to live together in the same colony and used to study in the same school. A clip from the same has been shared on social media platform Twitter from renowned Pakistani journalist Saj Sadiq.

“I and Babar [Azam] grew up in the same society, we used to stay together and we were school friends. In 2010, he proposed to me at my place and I accepted it”, she said.

She further talked about her relationship with the 26-year old player which witnessed them living together in a rented apartment after both their parents refused to get them married.

Azam, who led Pakistan in the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2012, has also been indicted for promising to marry the woman but eventually torturing her over the years.

For now, there has been no official statement from either PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) or Azam regarding the matter. It is worth mentioning that Azam is currently in New Zealand for his maiden overseas tour as the captain of the Pakistani cricket team across formats.

Pakistan, who will play three T20Is and two Test matches against New Zealand, will start the tour from December 18 in Auckland before the remaining matches in Hamilton, Napier, Mount Maunganui and Christchurch.
