“He said it’s a bit better today”- Lewis Hamilton makes drastic recovery from COVID-19
“He said it’s a bit better today”- Lewis Hamilton has made a huge recovery from COVID-19, says Toto Wolff ahead of Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton has been in isolation ever since he was diagnosed COVID-19 positive and had to miss the much entertaining Sakhir Grand Prix in Bahrain.
Now, with the final race of the season is set to run, Toto Wolff has now given a new update on Hamilton’s health and have said that the Briton driver is feeling better.
“We need to see how well Lewis recovers, that’s the most important [thing], that he’s well,” Wolff told Sky Sports F1. “He said it’s a bit better today [Sunday], he feels he’s made a big step, and if the test is negative then it’s his car and then he will for a sure drive a brilliant race.”
“And if the test in Abu Dhabi is [positive] then George is in the car,” he said.
Hamilton has a cutoff
Hamilton’s mandatory 10-days isolation period is coming to an end, but the Briton has to be tested negative before the next Grand Prix in Dubai.
Thus, Wolff has explained the procedure ahead, “probably next Thursday [December 10],” said Wolff. If somehow, Hamilton doesn’t makeup to the next Grand Prix, then his compatriot will most probably get another chance.
“He’s pragmatic in a way because he’s not to blame for having the virus, that can happen to anybody,” said Wolff when asked how desperate Hamilton was to return for Abu Dhabi.
“I think he would be happier if would be here racing his car and not having anybody else driving it around, but it is what it is and he’s always come back much stronger from these painful experiences and I have no doubt this is another building block on his progression and development as a driver and human being.”
