Prithvi Shaw drop catch: Twitterati bashes Indian opener for dropping Marnus Labuschagne in Adelaide Test
Prithvi Shaw drop catch: The Indian opening batsman continued with his team’s knack of dropping simple catches on this tour.
During the second day of the first Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Adelaide, India opening batsman Prithvi Shaw erred on the field as he dropped a simple catch to dismiss Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne.
It all happened on the fourth delivery of the 23rd over when Labuschagne once again mis-timed a pull shot. Not able to control a short delivery from Jasprit Bumrah, Labuschagne ended up hitting the ball towards Shaw at square leg.
When all the 21-year old player needed to do was move a few steps to catch the ball, he ended up putting down a sitter to hand another reprieve to Labuschagne. After India captain Virat Kohli had won the toss and chose to bat yesterday, Shaw was the first Indian batsman to be dismissed for a two-ball duck.
It is worth mentioning that the right-hand batsman was earlier dropped by Bumrah at fine leg and wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha behind the wickets.
After India were bundled out for 244 in 93.1 overs on the morning of Day 2, their bowlers bowled tight lines to not give away too many runs first up. Australia, who took 28 balls to score their first run, have been living dangerously since the departures of their opening batsmen in Matthew Wade (8) and Joe Burns (8).

How Twitterati reacted:
Labuschagne gets a third life. Prithvi Shaw this time. At this level you have to take that chance 10 out of 10/times. #AUSvIND

India’s fielding has been poor in the white ball matches and poor in the tour matches. Sometimes consistency is not a good thing. #AUSvIND
