Cyberpunk 2077 Developers are angry at the Management because of the game’s bad launch
Cyberpunk 2077 was well on its way to becoming the game of the year. However, due to its rocky launch and numerous glitches, it might become the biggest blunder in gaming history. Clearly, the game’s developers aren’t too stoked about this. Read on to find out what they had to say to the directors of the game.
What in the world were the directors thinking?
The employees lashed out at the meeting and asked straightforward questions such as why the Directors said that the game was “complete and playable” in January. The board responded by saying that it would take responsibility for this.
Another complaint was with regards to the numerous occasions of overtime and mandatory six-day weeks to finish the game. The directors replied that they had plans to improve their production process in the future but didn’t elaborate further.
One of the biggest jabs might have been whether the directors felt it was hypocritical to make a game about corporate exploitation while expecting that their employees work overtime.
Clearly, the game was still in the final stages of development and wasn’t ready. Even the developers have said that the game’s deadlines have always been unrealistic. The numerous bugs for previous-gen consoles have proven that. CDPR has been reeling ever since the company’s stock fell by about 12% in market value on Friday. Not to mention the losses they have endured in refunds for all the returns that they have been getting. It is estimated that they have to return close to 1 billion dollars in refunds.
CD Projekt Red has also promised to refund the retail copies of the game and will do it out of their own pockets if necessary. What this means is that usually, the store has to pay for the returned copy. However, CDPR ensures that they will refund it if one is having trouble with the retailer.
