Carlos Brathwaite BBL celebration: The former West Indian captain is impressing fans with his new wicket-taking celebration.

During the 11th match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League between Sydney Sixers and Adelaide Strikers in Hobart, Sydney Sixers all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite justified his introduction into the attack with the immediate dismissal of Adelaide Strikers captain Alex Carey.

Introduced into the attack in the 11th over, all it took for Brathwaite to leave an impact was his first delivery. Bowling from around the wicket, Brathwaite not only brought the delivery into the left-handed Carey but also went past his defence.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the sixth over, Carey had a lot more to do in a 178-run chase than just score 9 (9) with the help of one four. Brathwaite, on the other hand, went on to register bowling figures of 4-0-23-2.

A lacklustre batting performance by the Strikers in addition to a disciplined bowling effort from Sixers witnessed the former scoring 139/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Much like Brathwaite, Sydney spinner Benjamin Manenti also picked figures of 4-0-23-2 but it was spinner Steve O’Keefe (2-0-8-2) who was the pick of their bowlers.

After Carey won the toss and invited Sixers in to bat, they put on board a competitive 177/5 in 20 overs on the back of veteran all-rounder Daniel Christian’s whirlwind 15-ball half-century. Having scored 50 (16) with the help of four fours and five sixes, Christian single-handedly changed the course of the innings.
