“That Karl died on April 13, he ain’t coming back”: Karl-Anthony Towns shares a message after tonight’s win over the Pistons
Minnesota Timberwolves’ star center Karl-Anthony Towns talks about his game-to-game mindset starting this season
The Timberwolves won their opening night game against the Detroit Pistons 111-101. Towns put up 22 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, dished 7 assists, and blocked 2 shots in the 30 minutes that he was on the floor.
After the match, when KAT was asked to spare a minute, and was asked about his game-to-game mindset. To this the 6’11” center replied by saying that KAT we were used to seeing died on April 13th.
KAT: “That Karl died on April 13. He ain’t coming back. You’re talking to the physical me … That man you’re talking about from April 13 or before, I don’t know him. He ain’t there.”

Karl-Anthony Towns shares how he changed his mindset
This summer has not been easy on Karl-Anthony Towns. The entire world has been gripped by the Covid-19 pandemic. KAT in particular has been affected by it severely. The pandemic took away 7 of his relatives from him, including his mother Jacquiline Cruz-Towns. The Wolves star was very close to his mother and she was his biggest supporter, being there at every home game in his career.
Going through what he has, no one expected Karl-Anthony Towns to return the same. After tonight’s win, KAT went on to describe how what happened has changed him both on and off the court.

The Timberwolves’ center dedicated his win tonight to his mom. He hopes that being back on the basketball court helps with his grieving process.
“I told her I wanted to get her this win and get her this ball, so I’m just happy to be able to get out there and get it done.”
