“That is one of their greatest fears on the road to 2021”- Mercedes F1 objects new FIA regulations.
Mercedes has stepped onto object the new rule being imposed by FIA ahead of the season, where a piece of floor in front of the first tyre shall be removed.
The aim of this is to allow the cars to generate less downward pressure, so that the current Pirelli tyres can continue to be used safely.
But the concerns have been arising from Mercedes camp as explained by Michael Schmidt to Auto Motor und Sport.
“That is one of their greatest fears on the road to 2021, they are even a little paranoid. They are even a little paranoid.”
“They are afraid that the new floor will come into its own better with one car than with another. It was not possible to analyse that in detail before they agreed to those rules,” says Schmidt.

Dominance to continue
With the scope of limited changes next year, due to the chassis freeze and possible engine freeze, all the constructors are unlikely to present something different from their current product.
Red Bull has already confirmed that they would be already taking 60% of their present 2020 car into 2021. Hence, a similar range of carry over is expected by other teams too.
Mercedes slayed their every rival on the track yet again, and next year also there isn’t much hope about something different either.
Though before that the Brackley based team would be hoping to sort the contract situation of Lewis Hamilton, who still hasn’t penned his extension in the team, but team principal Toto Wolff is confident about securing his services in time, while the Briton would be aspiring for his 8th world championship title to outmach Ferrari legend Michael Schumacher.
