“LeBron James needs to pad his longevity stats over Michael Jordan”: Skip Bayless mocks Lakers star for playing back-to-back against Blazers
Skip Bayless says LeBron James is only padding his stats in the GOAT debate against Michael Jordan after he played against the Blazers last night.
The Lakers went down 115-107 to the Blazers at the Staples Center last night. This brings their record to 2-2 through 4 games of the season. They held a lead early in the first quarter, but Dame and co fought back to take the lead by halftime.
After a brief back and forth in the 3rd quarter, the Blazers pulled away at the start of the 4th courtesy Gary Trent Jr. The tide turned in their favor after Derrick Jones Jr had a stupendous block on LeBron James at the end of the 3rd.
The Blazers held strong on defense despite a number of attempts by the Lakers to rally. They even managed a one-point lead in the 4th before the Blazers took the lead for good.
Skip Bayless criticizes LeBron James for playing back-to-backs after saying he would rest
Before the start of the season, LeBron had hinted that he would sit out one game of back-to-backs this season. This, he said, would be a necessary step to preserve his health. But he elected to take the floor tonight despite being held back by a sprained ankle.
Bayless pounced on this opportunity to ridicule James for ‘statpadding’:
“Didn’t LeBron say before the season that with the quick turnaround, he wouldn’t be playing any early-season back-to-backs? I said no, he needs to build his MJ-chasing longevity stats. Tonight he’s playing the 2nd game of a back-to-back.”

It goes without saying that Skip was just looking for an excuse to bring up James.
