“Don’t see Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving making Finals without him”: Kendrick Perkins reveals key piece whom the Nets will miss in playoffs
Kendrick Perkins thinks the loss of Spencer Dinwiddie is a death blow to the title aspirations of Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
Dinwiddie suffered a clumsy landing on Sunday night against the Hornets. The 6’5″ guard walked off the court bracing himself, unable to place weight on his dominant right foot. It was confirmed yesterday that he will undergo a season-ending surgery on his ACL.
The 26-year-old was their main offensive force in the absence of Kyrie and KD last season. His loss will definitely affect their depth chart a ton. Chris Chiozza was played significant minutes on Monday night against Memphis. He was clearly nowhere close to Dinwiddie on offense.
Kendrick Perkins explains how much the Nets will miss Spencer Dinwiddie in the playoffs
On First Take yesterday, Perkins was concerned about the Nets’ chances in the playoffs:
“He’s a guy that could play with the ball in his hands and facilitate others. And he could play off the ball. He’s an underrated facilitator for his playmaking. And last season, he finished at the top of the charts for isolation play.”
He followed that up with this tweet, saying:
“Spencer Dinwiddie getting hurt is a HUGE blow to the Nets…and I don’t see the Nets making it out of the East without him!!! Carry on…”

Dinwiddie will indeed be a big miss for the Nets. But if there’s one team in the league that has the depth chart to absorb his loss, it’s them. The Nets genuinely seem to go 12 deep this year. The likes of Landry Shamet and Taurean Prince, who could be starters on a number of teams, are strictly members of their second string.
It will take a lot more than one injury for the Nets to truly be counted out this year.
