Marnus Labuschagne asks Rohit Sharma: The Australian batsman continued to remain chirpy while fielding close to the Indian batsmen.

During the second day of the third Test of the ongoing India’s tour of Australia in Sydney, Australia batsman Marnus Labuschagne tried his best to remain in the Indian batsmen’s ears. However, Labuschagne’s chirpiness didn’t reap fruits for his team even with the new ball.

Fielding at short leg to the Australian fast bowlers in a brief nine-over spell before the tea break, Labuschagne followed his verbal interaction with Shubman Gill by replicating the same against Rohit Sharma.

“What did you do in quarantine,” Labuschagne asked of Sharma before Australia captain Tim Paine removed him from short leg to some other position.

It is worth mentioning that Sharma is batting for the first time in Test cricket since November 2019. Having missed the white-ball leg and the first two Tests, the right-hand batsman had reached Australia last month and underwent a mandatory two-week quarantine period.

Opening together for the first time at the highest level, Sharma and Gill have looked solid against the Australian bowling attack so far.

Resuming from their overnight score of 166/2, Australia would be a tad disappointment after getting bundled out for 338 in 105.4 overs. Having said that, a huge sense of relief for them came in the form of batsman Steven Smith’s 27th Test century.

Top-scoring for the hosts, Smith contributed with 131 (226) in addition to Labuschagne scoring a good-looking 91 (196). With bowling figures of 18-3-62-4, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of their bowlers.
