“It’s all about being greedy and wanting more”: Clippers star Kawhi Leonard explains why passing the 10,000 point mark meant nothing to him
Clippers superstar Kawhi Leonard says that at this stage of his career, all he wants to do is accomplish more and ‘be greedy’.
The Los Angeles Clippers are currently amongst the best of the Western Conference as they hold the 3 seed following their win over the Chicago Bulls last night.
Kawhi Leonard led the way for the Clippers as he dropped 35 points while shooting 14-22 from the field. This included a blistering hot 3rd quarter where Leonard had 21 points. This 35 point performance helped Kawhi reach yet another career milestone.
Kawhi Leonard is now a part of the 10,000 point club for his career. When asked postgame about whether or not he knew he had hit this milestone, Kawhi said, “No I didn’t. It’s a stepping stone but to be honest, I really don’t care about it.”
Kawhi Leonard on wanting to focus on winning at the moment
After the Clippers’ monumental collapse in last season’s Playoffs, Kawhi and co. are most definitely playing with a chip on their shoulder. This Clippers squad was assembled to claim a championship and failing to do so will be a disappointment for the entirety of the franchise.
During his postgame interview, Leonard delved deep into his goals for the foreseeable future and his mindset going into that. He said, “I’m still playing basketball. My eye is on the next day, next game, trying to just get better. Maybe when I retire, I’ll sit back and look at the accomplishments. Right now, it’s about being greedy and wanting more.”
“Not at all. You don’t know what you’re doing til you stop doing it… Maybe when I retire, I’ll sit back and look at the accomplishments, but right now, it’s about being greedy and wanting more.”

Leonard still has a lot left in the tank. The 2x Finals MVP hasn’t even reached his 30s yet and is still very much in his prime. The Clippers cannot waste any more time as it is apparent Leonard has his eyes set on claiming his 3rd Larry O’Brien trophy.
