“Nets are missing a key element”: Steve Nash reveals shortcomings of his team despite a Big 3 of Kyrie Irving, James Harden and Kevin Durant

Despite landing the big three of Durant, Kyrie and Harden, the Nets are missing a key championship ingredient, says head coach Steve Nash.

The blockbuster four-team trade managed Brooklyn Nets to land James Harden in their roster this past week. James Harden is one of the, if not the most prolific scorers in the league’s history. He has teamed up with the former MVP Kevin Durant and six-time All-Star Kyrie Irving. That’s a lot of talent on one team.

Although, ever since the trio has been formed, the results aren’t what they expected it to be. The first game the ‘big three’ played together, ended up in a disappointing loss against the Cavaliers. Although the trio had combined for 96 points out of the team’s 135, they ended up falling to Cleveland.

The Nets were without Kevin Durant last night, who was out for his Achilles injury recovery. The Nets yet again fell to the Cavs 113-125. Newly acquired former MVP James Harden underperformed, scoring 19 points to go along with 11 assists and 5 rebounds. In the meanwhile, Collin Sexton continued his dominance by scoring 25 points and 9 assists in only 30 minutes.

We all know how offensively gifted is this Brooklyn Nets team with the likes of Harden, Kyrie and Durant. Their role players like Joe Harris, Jeff Green and DeAndre Jordan to have great contributions on the offensive end.

Post-game, Brooklyn Nets’ head coach Steve Nash admitted that there are some issues the team will have to look after in order to become a successful team.

He spoke about how he wants his team to take more pride and have to win more 50-50s. He wants his team to ‘contest more shots, fight, scarp, claw’. As Steve Nash focused on Brooklyn’s defense, it was pretty non-existent against an inexperienced team like the Cavaliers. Allowing Collin Sexton and his team to make 51.7% of their field goals.

The stacked team of the Brooklyn Nets are now 9-8 and on the 7th position on the Eastern Conference. Whereas, the Cavaliers have improved to 8 wins and 7 losses to be on the 5th spot of the Eastern Conference.
