“James Harden will learn when to be aggressive and score”: Kevin Durant equates former Houston star’s arrival in Brooklyn to joining a new school

Kevin Durant talks about James Harden joining the Brooklyn Nets and says that it’s like transferring to a new school.

Despite James Harden’s “scary hours” warning, the Brooklyn Nets’ big 3 haven’t been all too dominating in their first six games. They boast a 4-2 record since James Harden’s arrival in Brooklyn, with both of their losses coming at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James Harden has seen a dip in his stats ever since he made his way to the Nets. This is mainly due to Harden surprisingly deferring to Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant on offense. He has taken on more of a facilitator role to start off his stint in Brooklyn.

He did however taken over in the fourth quarter of their game against the Heat a couple days ago, dropping 10 straight points and assisting on the game winning Joe Harris dagger from the corner.

Kevin Durant has a few words of encouragement directed towards James Harden

James Harden was the de facto focal point of the Rockets offense during his 8 years with them. Every play ran through him and he was given all the freedom in the world to do what he wanted on that end of the floor.

So moving on from that to perhaps a tertiary role on Nets is a very big change and understandably so. Kevin Durant talked about Harden’s fit alongside him and Kyrie Irving.

“Feels like he just transferred to a new school and he’s trying to figure out the curriculum. It’s going to take some time to figure out who your teammates are and what your rotations are in the game. He’ll learn when to be aggressive, when to score, and when to pass.”

Harden has come out in favor of a reduced role with the Nets. He claims that it’s most definitely requires him to switch up his play-style and is interested in doing so.

It’s only been 4 games since all three of Brooklyn’s superstars have taken to the court at the same time. It will take much more time than that for them to mesh well with one another.
