“The pressure in Maranello is tremendous.”- Former Ferrari man sends a warning for the newly appointed Spaniard after Fiorano test.
Carlos Sainz anticipated his Grand Prix debut for Ferrari in 2021, as the Spaniard replaced Sebastian Vettel this year at Maranello. This week Sainz gave his first on-track appearance for Ferrari, and fans appeared to enjoy it.
However, one of his predecessors Pedro De la Rosa has sent a warning that Ferrari’s pressure is tremendous, but at the same time, representing Ferrari in F1 is a privilege.
“Ferrari is more than an F1 team. It goes further. I only stayed there for two years as a test driver, but it was a unique experience for me. All drivers dream of being able to drive a Ferrari sooner or later. It marks you forever. Carlos must be proud of it,” said De la Rosa.
Carlos Sainz can handle it.
While warning him about the challenges at Ferrari, De la Rosa also admitted that Sainz had obtained a five-year-old experience at a really young age and that will help him at Ferrari.
“The pressure in Maranello is tremendous. But he has five seasons of Formula 1 experience, and his last at McLaren was spectacular. He does not have to think about the world context or the recent past of the Scuderia, but only about driving.”
“Going to Ferrari is a unique opportunity, and he is ready,” said De la Rosa. Sainz has a powerful portfolio after performing for three reputed teams in the sport.
Moreover, Ferrari has also revealed that the Maranello based side did extensive research on Sainz before hiring him, which included how he communicated with his team on the radio.
Therefore, Ferrari’s decision can be seen as a reliable one for the team’s interest amidst its rejuvenation season.
