“That is basically in North Africa and South Africa” – F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali hints race in Africa could return, with Miami and Vietnam also due to host grand prix.

F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali has news that will please a lot of F1 faithful, including a certain Lewis Hamilton. He has hinted that Africa could return as the continent to host future F1 races. The Kyalami circuit in South Africa last hosted a race in 1993.

“That is basically in North Africa [and] South Africa, that I can tell. This is something that’s very important, I think, in terms of having in new place or old place with a great heritage back in Formula 1.”

Stefano Domenicali could hand Miami and Hanoi races this decade

Apart from this, he has also suggested the USA could have two F1 races – the existing Austin and Miami. Another race in contention is Hanoi in Vietnam, which has missed out on making a debut both last and this season.

“Our strategy in the future will be to be more present in the US with more than one grand prix. Austin has been very important in the last years of our calendar. It will be also in the future and we are discussing with them the renewal of the agreement.

“And of course Miami is a place where we are looking. I cannot say more than that. But for sure, there is a big interest from both parties to be there. Vietnam is not anymore on the calendar but it’s still an open option. It has been an incredible investment and therefore it’s still on the table of discussion for a future event.”
