WATCH: Nathan Coulter Nile takes a brilliant juggling catch to dismiss Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma fancies two things the most in his life, Eden Gardens and Australia; and when you bring the three of them together, you are in for a Rohit Sharma special.
But it just wasn’t meant to be today, as Rohit Sharma departed for 7 after hitting a majestic boundary in the initial overs.
Rohit didn’t really get the ball running in the 1st ODI and would have hoped this magic touch at the Eden Gardens would grace him today as well, but that didn’t really transpire in the way he had hoped for it to.
The Eden Gardens track was holding up in the initial few overs and that proved to be a hindrance in stroke making. While Rohit and Rahane did help themselves to few boundaries upfront, there was always this ball that would stop on them.
And that is exactly what led to Rohit’s dismissal, as the ball didn’t quite come onto Rohit’s bat, and he was a little too early into his cover drive. The ball, instead of being caressed through the covers, found itself on the way back to Nathan Coulter Nile, who used his reflexes to good effect to complete the dismissal of Rohit Sharma.

India would have been a little pegged back by Sharma’s dismissal, as they would have expected Sharma to come good at Eden Gardens, but a strong partnership between Kohli and Rahane ensured that India were on the right track to post a huge total on board.
