“Playing in Michael Jordan’s house never gets old”: Clippers’ Lou Williams explains how much of an honor it is to play at United Center after win against Bulls
Even in his 16th year as an NBA player, Lou Williams appreciates the blessing of being able to take the court that once was the home of Michael Jordan.
In 13 seasons with the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan won 6 championships – all of which came in the latter half of his time in Illinois. Jordan won 10 scoring titles, 10 All-NBA First Team selections and 9 All-Defensive First Team nods.
The level of play and individual, team success that Jordan found with his Bulls is yet to be matched in the 3-point era. There have been more star-studded teams, but no team has been more dominant in the playoffs than MJ’s Bulls.
The Clippers visited Chicago for their road game against the Bulls for the season on Saturday night. They came away with an easy 125-106 win, bringing their record up to 19-8. Paul George is still not back in action, but the All Star wing is expected back soon.
Lou Williams says it’s still an honor to play at the old hunting grounds of Michael Jordan
The Clippers fashioned an easy win on the back of some good performances from all around the squad. Kawhi had his characteristic 30-point game, going 14-of-21 from the field.
Lou Williams was in a good mood in the post-game presser:
“This is my 16th season and I’m still kind of in awe in some of the things I’ve been able to experience. To be in Michael Jordan‘s house, that never gets old to me.”
Williams has always been an admirer of the Bulls legend, who’s the consensus GOAT of the sports. Michael Jordan a mythical aura in and around the Chicago Metropolitan area. It was Jordan, his pull and aura that put the city of Chicago on the map of the world.
From his words, it seems Lou Williams appreciates this aura more than most players in the NBA.
