Lakers news: Frank Vogel reveals who is third option behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis
Lakers head coach Frank Vogel has revealed that who is the 3rd choice for the team behind LeBron James and AD ahead of the Bubble restart in Orlando.
The Lakers arguably have the deepest and most talented squad in the NBA. LeBron and Davis are seen as the main guys for the team. And very well so, they both are multiple time All-stars and are having great individual seasons as well.
It is often questioned who is the 3rd option for the Lakers behind the two superstars. Ahead of the restart Head coach, Frank Vogel has revealed that who he sees as the 3rd choice.
If either of LeBron or AD are having an off night, or if either of them are injured heading into the playoffs; Lakers would desperately a good 3rd scoring option.
Now, with Rajon Rondo and Avery Bradley out for the playoffs, it seems like another Laker will need to step up with the scoring.
Lakers’ third option behind LeBron and AD
During an interview, Vogel revealed that he thinks that there is no one certain player who is number 3. Instead, it is the ‘open man’. The way Lakers play and the quality they possess everyone on the team can benefit from it.
“I really believe our third option on this team with the many, many weapons we have, is the open man,” Vogel said.
“The way we play. If we attack, just play for each other and share the basketball, we have more than enough firepower. It’s almost a benefit to not have it be one guy the defense can zero in on. When you play in attack mode it can be a different guy every night stepping up and having 20 or 25 points, or the assists.” Vogel added.
Vogel thinks that it has the been strength of the team this year. Due to which they have played so well, and look forward to playing the same way at the playoffs.
Lakers at times do seem to lack a quality shooter from deep.
Jared Dudley said that for him Kyle Kuzma is the ‘third option’ on the team.

Kuzma for long has been seen as the next big thing for the Lakers but this year he hasn’t been at his best. As he is mostly playing out of position as Davis plays in his favored position. Kuzma is averaging 12.7 points this season.

What’s next for the Lakers?
LeBron and AD lead the Lakers in the Bubble as the favorites to win the title at the Bubble. Without guards, Bradley Avery, and Rajon Rondo Lakers will have to make the most of their resources. The addition of veteran JR Smith might be helpful. Both AD and LeBron are capable enough to take the Lakers all the way.
