“It is not many days before the first race” – Kimi Raikkonen hoping Alfa Romeo can begin season on a high with Bahrain Grand Prix
“It is not many days before the first race” – Kimi Raikkonen is hopeful of Alfa Romeo improvements this season starting with the Bahrain Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen is in the twilight of his career, yet is refusing to give up, like a true champion. His Alfa Romeo team had an underwhelming campaign last season, only beating Haas and Williams. This season, the duo of Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi would be hoping for an improved showing.
With the pre-season test in less than three weeks’ time, the ‘Ice Man’ has stressed the importance of learning as much as they can before the season-opener in Bahrain.
“Roughly in one month’s time with the first race, everybody will see where everybody is. It is not many days before the first race so we will need to do a good three days [in testing], [run plenty of] laps, learn a lot from the car and see where we get.”

Kimi Raikkonen made his F1 debut with Sauber
Raikkonen made his debut with the same team he is racing now – Sauber (currently branded as Alfa Romeo). The veteran of two decades only enjoys the racing aspect still, and “never been a big fan of all the rest”.
“I’m excited for the year but it’s very unknown because we haven’t tried the car. There are obvious rule changes. Where we are going to be, we don’t know, but in a few weeks’ time, we will see how things are running and the car is feeling. Hopefully, we are better off than we were last year. We will do our best wherever we end up being.”
