“Absolute beauty”: Matt Roller lauds Shaheen Shah Afridi after he castles Chris Lynn with unplayable delivery in PSL 2021
Shaheen Shah Afridi: The spearhead from Lahore Qalandars made early inroads to send back the opposition’s overseas opener.
During the seventh match of the ongoing sixth season of the Pakistan Super League between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars in Karachi, Lahore Qalandars spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi drew first blood in the second innings by dismissing Multan Sultans opening batsman Chris Lynn (0).
It all happened on the third delivery of the innings when Afridi bowled a pinpoint yorker to send back Lynn. Facing only his second delivery, Lynn looked in no shape to counter such a well-executed delivery.
Chasing a 158-run target, Sultans didn’t get off to the best of starts after losing their overseas batsmen in Lynn and James Vince (5) inside the first four overs. Lynn, who is playing his third match this season, has returned with disappointing scores of 1, 1 and 0.

Sultans captain Mohammad Rizwan, who had earlier won the toss and elected to field, is batting in fantastic nick and would be wanting to see through the chase in search of their first victory of the season.
Veteran Qalandars all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez continued his awe-inspiring run-spree as he top-scored in the first innings with his 60 (35) comprising of three fours and five sixes. With bowling figures of 4-1-20-2, Multan all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite was the pick of their bowlers.
Matt Roller lauds Shaheen Shah Afridi
Contrary to Lynn’s form, Afridi has been second to none so far this season. Dismissing Lynn saw the left-arm bowler become the highest wicket-taker with his five wickets coming at an economy and strike rate of 7 and 12 respectively at the time of writing this article.
England journalist Matt Roller was among the many admirers of Afridi’s yorker today. Taking to social media platform Twitter, Roller considered Afridi as “probably the best left-arm seamer in the world”.

Probably the best left-arm seamer in the world – such a shame that we don’t get to see him in the IPL
