“He will also be very, very successful in Formula 1” – AlphaTauri boss Franz Tost backs Mick Schumacher to emulate legendary dad
“He will also be very, very successful in Formula 1” – AlphaTauri team principal Franz Tost is confident Mick Schumacher will do great things in F1, just like his greatest-of-all-time father.
Mick Schumacher is one of the most talked about drivers in the grid this season. This in spite of him racing for the Haas team, which performed below expectations last season.

The one obvious reason for this is the fact that he is the son of Michael Schumacher. But the other crucial reason is that he is the reigning Formula 2 champion.
For those unaware, the German also won the 2018 FIA Formula 3 European Championship. Curiously, Dan Ticktum was leading the championship for quite some time, before Mick took him by story in the second half. Ticktum smelled something fishy, and called the entire situation “interesting”.
“Interesting is how I would describe their pace and I’m confident many people in the F3 paddock would agree. He however clarified he “never said it was illegal”.
Franz Tost defends and speaks highly of Mick Schumacher
Tost rubbished those claims, and gave the comparison of Aryton Senna, and how he could only win with “illegal tyres”. The Austrian hopes that Schumacher Jr. does great things in the sport, and becomes a champion driver like his dad and uncle Ralf Schumacher.
“It was also claimed about Ayrton Senna in his time in Formula Ford that such performances were only possible with illegal tyres. But just as with Senna then, the conspiracy theories are not true with Schumacher either.”
“He (Mick) has driven a few races that were truly sensational. Also with great overtaking manoeuvres. I am convinced that in time he will also be very, very successful in Formula 1.”
