Kyrie Irving embraces DeMar DeRozan before the game, pays respect to DeRozan’s late father
Kyrie Irving gave DeMar DeRozan a long hug and wished him the best in their first meeting after his father’s death on February 19 this year.
The Brooklyn Nets continued their dominant streak, as they beat the San Antonio Spurs 124-113 in Overtime. The Spurs were able to secure an important defensive stop, and score at the buzzer to take the game to overtime. This was the Nets’ first win in San Antonio in over 20 years.
James Harden had a tremendous game, as he became the first player ever to record 30+ points, 15+ assists, 10+ rebounds and 0 turnovers.
Kyrie Irving pitched in with 27 points, and Bruce Brown Jr. added 23 points as well. For the Spurs, DeMar DeRozan had a team-high 22 points and 11 assists. The Spurs had 6 players scoring in double digits. However, they fell short in overtime.

Basketball is a team sport, and just like any other sport, sportsmanship is very important. Through all that has happened in 2020, the fraternity and brotherhood of the players were at full display.
The players, while they may seem like rivals on the court, don’t carry the same off the court. DeMar DeRozan lost his father to a prolonged illness on 19th February.
Spurs players were with DeRozan virtually and made sure he did not feel alone. After missing a game, DeRozan was back on the court and led the Spurs to the win over the Pelicans.
Before the game started last night, Kyrie Irving went up to DeRozan and paid his respects.

The NBA is a brotherhood, and things like these reaffirm the same. Apart from Kyrie, other NBA players and fans also paid their respects to DeMar.
