“I was nervous to talk to LeBron James in my first All-Star Game”: Kevin Durant acknowledges how star-struck he was as a debutant while facing the reigning MVP
Kevin Durant admits that he was nervous to talk to LeBron James as a debutant in the festivities during the 2010 NBA All-Star Game.
LeBron James and Kevin Durant have been the epitome of greatness over the course of their careers. ‘Which player is better?’ has become a common debate in the NBA community. But because of how equal they are in terms of skill, and overall ability, the answer has so far been inconclusive.
But while they are seasoned veterans now, there was a time when Kevin Durant wasn’t quite in the same category as LeBron James. He was just a young but immensely talented player, while the King was close to the peak of his prowess.

Kevin Durant on talking to LeBron James during the 2010 All-Star game
As LeBron James, Kevin Durant and the Inside crew were having fun together, the topic of the 2010 All-Star game came up. This was the Slim Reaper’s first year as a participant in the game, and so he was still a bit wet behind the ears.
During the game, a clip was shown where LeBron James came up to him and said this.
“God damn you look good…your first All-Star game, you get 180,000 come and see you play.”
As everyone smiled after the clip was over, Durant admitted he was too nervous to talk to James.
“Yeah, I mean, I was nervous to talk to Bron in that little sequence right there. But, it was fun for sure.”
Unfortunately, Kevin Durant will in fact be missing this upcoming All-Star game due to a left hamstring strain. However, it is still sure to be an incredible game. And we can’t wait to see who claims victory at the end of the game.
