“There’s only one Superman in NBA history and that’s Shaquille O’Neal”: Lakers legend blames Kenny Smith for ‘instigating a feud’ between him and Dwight Howard
Shaquille O’Neal calls it Kenny Smith’s fault for giving Dwight Howard the moniker of ‘Superman’. Shaq has never been kind to Dwight since.
Shaq has had this weird tendency to squabble with current players of the league. Ever since he became a crew of Inside the NBA and began his Shaqtin-a-Fool segment, he’s been picking on the likes of JaVale McGee, among others.
McGee even admitted to being psychologically affected having been made into a meme on national television. The likes of Kevin Durant have lashed out at Shaq for being inconsiderate and trolling current players.
The big man is seemingly always looking to bring up his 4 championships and 3 Finals MVPs. But he was also very harsh on Dwight Howard, especially after the 35-year-old inherited his Superman sobriquet.
The Inside crew discussed Shaq’s propensity to keep beefing with modern players on The Inside Story. This 4-part documentary miniseries reveals a ton of insights into the lives of the awesome quartet.
Shaquille O’Neal blames Kenny Smith for Dwight Howard feud
The second episode of The Inside Story aired at 9 PM on Friday night. O’Neal went back to the 2008 Slam Dunk Contest when Howard wowed the crowd with the “Superman” dunk.
Shaq accuses Smith of gassing Howard up and really making him believe he was the new Man of Steel:
“There’s only one Superman to ever come through this league and you know his name. It’s me.”

All of the bad humor aside, it’s good to know that Shaq has been half-joking while criticizing modern centers. At least he’s blaming his own contemporaries than those players themselves.
