“He also wants to go and enjoy his life”- Lando Norris claims that Lewis Hamilton would retire soon because he wants to enjoy life.
Lewis Hamilton has won enough in his Formula 1 career, and even this year, he may bag another title to succeed Michael Schumacher with the most number of world titles.
Extending on this, his compatriot and McLaren’s driver Lando Norris has suggested that Hamilton may retire after that as he won’t be having any purpose to stay.
“He’s a guy who loves doing a lot of other things outside of F1, and you have one life,” said Norris to Sky Sports. “If you win eight championships, you have to be very happy with that; if you win one, you have to be very happy with that.
“I think he knows what he wants to do, and he also wants to go and enjoy his life outside of F1 and for Formula 1 not to take up the whole period of his life.
“He’s quite likely to get the eighth championship this year; time will tell,” he concluded.
Mercedes plan to continue; Hamilton is not sure.
Recently, Mercedes’ boss Toto Wolff claimed that if Hamilton wants to continue in F1, they would want to be still associated with him, even though they will still have to extend his contract after completing the 2021 season.
Meanwhile, Hamilton has asserted that he won’t be influenced by his retirement based on the eighth world title triumph; rather, his motivation to remain in motorsport will influence it.
So, it isn’t sure what lies ahead for both parties. But Mercedes has constantly reiterated that they would be getting into the negotiation talks with Hamilton for 2022 way before during this season to have ample time to conclude instead of panicking in the end.
