“I’m waiting until the end of the season”: Sergio Aguero Sends Message To Manchester City Amidst Contract Impasse
The striker is yet to be offered a new deal. One of Manchester City’s most influential and longest serving players, Sergio Aguero could finally be on the cusp of departing the club he guided to consummate success.
With age catching up with him, resulting in fitness issues and flaring up injuries, Aguero hasn’t been able to make much of an impact on the pitch for City this season. His campaign has been persistently hampered by manifold injuries, ones which have seen him get scanty minutes on the pitch.
Aguero’s time on the injury bed couldn’t have come at a more worse time either with this being the last year of his contract at the Premier League club. With his deal running out in June 2021, Aguero is finding it extremely difficult to persuade his employers to extend his contract.
Aguero And City To Discuss Contract Once Season Curtails
While Aguero is in a pickle at the moment when it comes to his future, the striker is yet to open negotiations with potential suitors. Despite seeing a string of clubs line up to woo the striker, Fabrizio Romano has told that Aguero is waiting for discussions with City.
Fabrizio Romano said when speaking about Aguero’s contract extension, “We have to say that Sergio Aguero has been so respectful with Manchester City. What he’s said to the club is, ‘I’m waiting until the end of the season’. So he’s not taking any final decision before the end of the season.”
“He’s waiting for the Champions League, he’s waiting for the Premier League win. Then at the end of the season, he will meet with his agents and with Manchester City, and they will decide together”, he continued.
“To this day, he won’t negotiate with any other clubs – there are a lot of clubs interested in Aguero in Spain and also in Italy, a lot of clubs looking at Sergio Aguero – but at the moment, there is nothing advanced or serious because he says, ‘I will wait for Manchester City till the end of the season’, as a matter of respect for the club.
“At the moment there is nothing, to be honest, also with Manchester City advanced to extend the contract. They are in a cool situation and they will decide at the end of the season.”
