“A driver doesn’t suddenly lose his qualities”- Former sponsor accuses Ferrari of depriving Sebastian Vettel of his needs
“A driver doesn’t suddenly lose his qualities”- Former sponsor accuses Ferrari of not fulfilling individual needs of Sebastian Vettel.
Sebastian Vettel had one hard year in Ferrari in 2020. For the starters, Ferrari announcing the separation even before the start of the season, followed by Vettel struggling with the car.
Now, Vettel’s former sponsor Peter Mucke feels that Ferrari deprived him of the needs he required to have a successful spell and giving special resources to Charles Leclerc only.
“A driver doesn’t suddenly lose his qualities. From my point of view: a car is not the same for every driver. You really have to respond to the individual needs of a driver and what he feels. I’m of the opinion that this hasn’t happened,” he said to Motorsport.com.
“My feeling is that he didn’t get the same attention. And we are not talking about a world of difference. It’s about two tenths on a time scale. So I can’t stand it when the world complains that Sebastian is bad.”
Several F1 experts and veterans, including Nico Rosberg, talked about Vettel’s performances being unusual, as the four-time world champion no way would appear so docile on a Ferrari.
A ray of hope at Aston Martin
Now, Vettel is set to appear for Aston Martin from this year onwards, as he has started off his campaign with the Lawrence Stroll owned team, and they have accepted him with open arms.
Team principal Otmar Szafnaeur believes that the German will propel them to grow further and chase their F1 dreams, as they themselves have a young yet dynamic team.
Vettel recently took the latest AMR21 on the run at Silverstone last week and is now headed for the official F1 test session in Bahrain, scheduled two weeks before the first Grand Prix of the season.
