“Shaq, as long as I owe you, you’ll never be broke”: Charles Barkley mocks Shaquille O’Neal for his money management on Inside the NBA
Charles Barkley went after Shaquille O’Neal yet again in the latest faceoff between the two adorable NBA legends on Inside the NBA.
Chuck and Shaq have quite the equation with each other. Chuck is 9 years senior to Shaq and debuted in the NBA 8 years before him. The Round Mound of Rebound was winning his first MVP trophy when Shaq was a rookie with Orlando.
Before they ever got together in a TNT studio, Shaq and Chuck were going at each other in the league. They have an infamous on-court fight, which they only reconciled from after their respective moms intervened.
It’s always an endearing sight to see two grown men squabble and make fun of each other like 6-year-olds. That is part of the draw with Inside the NBA, a show that has won numerous Emmys over the years.
Charles Barkley roasts Shaquille O’Neal over Super Bowl bet
Chuck and Shaq had had an ongoing bet with each other about who’d win the Super Bowl this year. Shaq picked the GOAT, and Tom Brady came away with an emphatic win on the night.
But when time came for Chuck to pay the piper, he’s held off on the deal. So understandably, Shaq brought up the topic of this pending payment on live TV last night.

Chuck has apparently been keeping Shaq’s money ‘in escrow’ so that the latter never actually goes broke. It goes without saying that this was all in good humor, but there might have been a shade of truth to it if we’re to believe Shaq’s early spending habits.
Shaq once revealed how he was $60,000 in the hole as a rookie because he’d spent lavishly on his family. He’s obviously become a whole lot better at money management since, now that he’s worth over $400 million.
