Warriors’ Draymond Green is confident he can win Defensive Player of the Year, provided that the Warriors win more games.

The Golden State Warriors gave Stephen Curry a really wonderful birthday gift, as they took down the league leaders, the Utah Jazz. The Dubs managed to stop their four-game skid from going further and won the contest 133-119.

It was a wonderful team effort, with Stephen Curry leading the way with his 32 points and 9 assists. Andrew Wiggins scored 28 points, James Wiseman scored 16 and Jordan Poole added 18 points of his own. Draymond Green chipped in with an 11 point, 12 rebound, and 12 assist triple-double.

The Utah Jazz tried asserting their dominance, but it just wasn’t their night. Rudy Gobert posted a monster 24 point, 28 rebound night, and Donovan Mitchell added 24 points of his own. Despite beating the Warriors 51-40 at the boards, they could not contain them, as the Dubs shot over 50% from the 3s.

Draymond Green is confident that he can win Defensive Player of the Year honors

Draymond Green has never been the kind of player to shy away from sharing what’s on his mind. He recently had declared his goal of getting into the Hall-Of-Fame, and Steve Kerr backed it. After the win over the Jazz, Green now is certain he is one of the top candidates for DPOY:

“We gotta win more games. We win more games, climb the standings, I think there’s no question that I’ll be Defensive Player of the Year. There’s no defender better than me. So there you have it.”

There are no lies in Green’s statements. If the Warriors are able to make it to the playoffs, and Green keeps doing what he does best, he surely would be giving the other candidates a run for their money. Green has been pivotal in the Warriors’ organization, and his impact is felt on every game they play.

Draymond is making a strong case, and he would definitely like to win the DPOY award again. He definitely displayed his ability and acumen in abundance last night, disrupting several possessions and affecting steals.
